shop hush ⇾ bad habit athena palette; (huda beauty desert dusk dupe)

Happy New Year! It's been a few months..... I deactivated my instagram and stopped posting here for a few months to focus on schoolwork. Hoping to pick up everything again for 2018. Hopefully I'll update the blog with more posts about my makeup collection and bullet journal for starters :)

This is a palette made by Bad Habit Beauty, and retails for $12 on shophush.com. I bought it off the second restock on their app, which offers free shipping in the US. It is a "dupe" of the Huda Beauty Desert Dusk Palette, which is $65 on Sephora.

Convenient sized mirror, lightweight packaging made of cardboard. Smells pretty plastic (probably the glue) or as my friend put it "like China". I brought it on a trip and it was sturdy enough to survive check-in baggage :)

Favorite shades: valour (really into peachy matte colors recently), purity (same color as my skin, good eyeshadow primer setter), epic (light purple shimmer with slight duochrome), medusa (rose gold pink shimmer), cunning (gold with pink shift).

I really love using Daring with glitter glue and blending out with a base of Prize.

The silver-taupey shades also look nice. The purples don't work that well in a look because  of how Justice blends out, and Wisdom is not very distinguishable as purple on the eye, but Epic is very pretty (in corner below).

Overall, the palette doesn't really blend out that well; colors such as justice and lore have a tendency to turn muddy which is a shame because they're very vibrant in the swatches. I've used them with my finger in a patting motion to maximize pigment (sponge applicators would also work and be less messy).

This palette is worth $12 to me, because I get to test out this color scheme in different finishes that I don't have. I don't think that Desert Dusk is worth $53 more than this palette, but it's pretty much guaranteed to be easier to work with. I'm not a huge fan of how Huda formulated her foiled shadows, so I'm happy with Bad Habit's alternative.
