Devinah Cosmetics

[update] after further use, I've actually destashed my Devinah matte shadows (so 4/5 I have here). The texture was chalky and gritty, and often when I applied them to the eye it would 'skip' certain folds on my eyelids. They're useable, but just not my favorite formula, and I've found shades that I prefer over these.

Today I'll have a quick review on my order from an indie brand called Devinah! Devinah was founded by DeAndra, and she founded the brand in 2015. They have matte and shimmer eyeshadows, highlighters, and bronzers, as well as palettes. The matte shadows only come in 26mm pans, while shimmer shadows come in 26mm, 36mm, 44mm, 57mm. Bronzers only come in 57mm pans, while highlighters come in 36mm, 44mm, and 57mm. I purchased during their 4th of July sale. I was in China lmfao so I didn't get a chance to try them out until recently.

Onto the goods! All eyeshadows (26mm) are $5 but the sale was 40% off and I got $10 off :) Shipping was $4.95 so my total order came out to $19.95. I was thinking about getting the ColourPop Yes Please palette, but it was mostly a neutrals palette with a yellow and orange. I also wanted to try Devinah's formula and have been wanting a nice yellow matte (that wasn't excessively expensive and huge like Sugarpill's Buttercupcake).

Capri Pressed Matte
  • bold and bright banana yellow
  • All her mattes have slight powder kickback and fallout but they really are very pigmented and easy to blend. I wouldn't say that they're difficult to use at all, but a lighter hand is needed.

Anastasia Pressed Matte
  • burnt orange
  • I like this. I realized that I don't have many orange shades, and they honestly work very well lots of eye looks I didn't know I needed in my life.

Courtney Pressed Matte
  • pea soup/mustard yellow
  • The mustard I've been waiting for. I stopped myself from getting MUG desert sands and ColourPop Paper Tiger a few times, and Wheatness was sold out during Looxi's 50% off anniversary sale, so I felt like this was Finally Meant To Be.
  • #regret about not getting a mustard yellow earlier, because I love it!

Naevia Pressed Matte
  • muted orange with yellow undertones
  • Kinda regret this one, because I have a few other shadows that look similar (though not as orange, more beige) but blend out to around the same color. Still, great formula and works well.

Blazed Pressed Pigment (26mm)
  • red pigment with orange shimmer
  • Beautiful color payoff and really nice on the lid. I don't have any red shimmers like this one, because most of mine are darker/more purple. Super glad I picked this up because it looks gorgeous on the lid and blended out with Urban Decay's Slowburn.

T - B
blazed,  naevia, anastasia, capri, courtney

brush swatches:
capri, naevia, courtney, anastasia, blazed

UD electric slowburn as lid base, with blazed patted on center lid with anastasia as crease, blended with naevia then courney. capri outer corner, UD electric palette jilted as liner.

Overall would recommend Devinah to anyone looking to try out pressed indie shadows! The only thing I have to say is that I'm not a huge fan of the logo LOL I feel their graphic design isn't really my style, but their makeup is :)
